My name is Elissa Kim, and I am the president of Kocen and have been a part of Hwarang for the past three years. When I first joined as a freshman, I did not know how much this foundation could change who I am and my life. Not only did this foundation allow me to become a better help to my community, it also gave me the chance to meet amazing mentors and new friends. Through Hwarang, I developed upon many important skills, such as confidence, leadership, teamwork, and kindness. This foundation has opened my eyes to social justice issues, like comfort women, and helped me realize how important it is to contribute to my own community. I feel blessed to be a part of this amazing organization and I hope to become an even better leader and friend as I continue through the next two years.
