IT COMMITTEE
IT Committee strives to use our knowledge of technology and programming to create a positive impact on our community. In our rapidly evolving digital world, coding and technological fluency have become invaluable skills. However, with new advancements continuously released, the gap between the coding education of students is only growing wider.
This disparity in access to quality technology education threatens to leave entire generations behind, missing out on opportunities to develop essential problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
That's why the IT Committee is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of innovators through various coding schools and events. Our mission is to use community service as a vehicle to inspire younger students in our community and provide the resources and support needed to help close the gap in IT education.
Through hands-on projects, coding challenges, and one-on-one guidance from our experienced mentors, we strive to make technology accessible, approachable, and empowering.
IT COMMITTEE OFFICERS
Hello! My name is Ellia Kim, and I am honored to serve as the President of the IT Committee for this academic year. I am currently a junior at Homestead High School. While living in the heart of Silicon Valley, I have witnessed firsthand the tremendous impact that technology has on our daily lives.
In our modern digital age, coding and technological fluency are no longer optional skills—they are becoming increasingly essential. However, I have also seen how a lack of access to quality resources and education can create significant disparities. This realization inspired me to join the IT Committee. I am passionate about bridging the gap in technological education and providing a supportive, inclusive environment where any student, regardless of background, can explore coding and computer science.

ACTIVITIES
KGroup Drone Coding School
Partnering with Bay Area KGroup, this coding school introduces introductory block-based coding to local elementary and middle school students. Hwarang members mentored students to accomplish different tasks they were given, including programming a drone to perform various tricks or complete a maze. Through this coding school, students gained invaluable critical thinking skills through debugging and problem-solving through their assignments.
Meta Tour
IT Committee members got an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at Meta during an immersive campus tour. Highlights included a sneak peek into the development process of Meta's newest Oculus model, where they gained insights into the cutting-edge research and engineering behind creating innovative virtual reality products. Members also learned about the experiences of employees across various departments through engaging discussions. Additionally, the tour provided opportunities to explore Meta's renowned amenities, such as sampling diverse culinary offerings at the cafeteria and enjoying the arcade and gaming facilities.
Tech Fair
IT Committee Members planned and led the tech fairs as a fun way to introduce local elementary students to STEM. Structured by booths, the activities included a virtual reality headset experience, robotics, hamster bot coding, a lemon-powered lightbulb demonstration, a light hologram exhibit, slime making, and more interactive STEM-related activities.
