INTRODUCTION

Hello, my name is Audrey Lee and I am serving as the Medical Committee Chair for the 2023-2024 term. Student Organized Medical Association (SOMA) is comprised of students who are interested in a medical career path, eager to gain experience and knowledge, and have a passion for medicine. Our members are interested in a wide range of health issues, including psychology, neurology, women’s health, diabetic research, heart disease, internal medicine, biomed education, surgery, dentistry, finding a cost efficient cure, and many more. Our committee activities consist of a monthly committee meeting where we discuss past and upcoming events and learn about current heath topics. Some of our biggest events are our CPR trainings and annual Guatemala Medical Eye Camp. Recently, we hosted a Train-the-Trainer Session for Hands-Only CPR in partnership with the LA County Public Health Department’s Heart Heroes Campaign. This year, our goal as a committee is to brainstorm and create a variety of in-person and hands-on medical activities and invite speakers to share their journey and advice on a specific medical career pathway. We hope that through the collaboration and initiative of all SOMA members, we can spark curiosity, open valuable opportunities to explore the medical field, and support our members who are choosing a career path in the medical track.

안녕하세요, 저는 2023~2024년 기간 동안 의료위원장을 맡은 이오드리 입니다. 학생 주도 의학 협회(SOMA)는 의료 경력을 희망하며 경험과 지식을 쌓고 의학에 열정을 품은 학생들로 구성되어 있습니다. 저희 회원들은 심리학, 신경학, 여성 건강, 당뇨 연구, 심장 질환, 내과, 생물 교육, 수술, 치과, 경제적 효과적인 치료 발견 등 다양한 건강 문제에 관심이 있습니다. 저희 위원회의 활동에는 매월 개최되는 위원회 회의가 포함되어 있으며, 이곳에서는 과거 및 다가오는 이벤트를 논의하고 현재 건강 주제에 대해 배우게 됩니다. 우리의 큰 행사 중 일부는 CPR 교육 및 연례적인 과테말라 의료 안과 캠프가 있습니다. 최근에는 LA 카운티 공중 보건국의 하트 히어로 캠페인과 협력하여 Hands-Only CPR의 교육자 교육 세션을 개최했습니다. 올해에는 위원회로서 목표를 세우고 여러 가지 대면 및 실습 의학 활동을 고안하고 연사를 초청하여 특정 의료 진로에 대한 자신의 여정과 조언을 공유하는 것입니다. SOMA 회원들의 협력과 주도력을 통해 의료 분야를 탐험하는 데 유용한 기회를 열고 의료 분야에서 경력을 선택하는 회원들을 지원하길 바랍니다.
