Annual Charity Gala

The Annual Charity GALA is ultimately one of the most important events in Hwarang, serving as both an end to the hard work done the previous year, a new beginning to commit oneself to give back to the community, and the inauguration of a new Summit. Fortunately, the 2021 GALA was able to be held physically, allowing members to see each other face-to-face and an overall more engaged, exciting atmosphere. Throughout the event, awards were presented to members whose participation and effort exceeded what was expected, including presidential awards signifying great service and commitment. Inviting multiple guest speakers, both from inside and outside from Hwarang, Celebrating Hwarang and our members’ achievements, GALA ultimately wraps up the previous year and introduces a fresh, new year.

화랑은 한국의 문화와 역사를 가슴 깊이 간직하고 있습니다. 우리는 항상 우리 자신과 다른 사람들을 교육하기 위해 열심히 며, 더 중요한 것은 우리 문화를 보존하기 위한 조치를 취하는 것입니다. 지난 몇 달 동안 캘리포니아 글렌데일의 위안부 동상을 보호하기 위한 작업이 진행되었습니다. 화랑청년재단 회원들에게 위안부 피해자의 역사와 사연을 주제로 에세이와 예술작품 창작을 요청했다. 이어 동상 옆 위안부 추모식에서 연설할 회원 몇 명을 선정해 위안부 생활로 고통받는 분들을 기리는 예술 작품을 동상 주변에 설치했습니다. 위안부 이야기를 접하고 느낀 개인적인 경험과 감정을 많은 사람들이 말하거나 선보일 수 있다는 것은 정말 초현실적인 경험이자 영광이었습니다. 이번 행사를 통해 화랑 식구들은 역사의 말살을 막기 위해 한인으로서의 의무를 다하는 데 한발 더 다가갈 수 있게 됐다.
